Summary

  • Essential training for well completion and intervention operators and supervisors in wireline, coiled tubing and/or snubbing operations.

  • The aim of the IWCF WIPC level 3 course is to enhance the candidate’s knowledge and understanding of well intervention pressure control. The course focuses on the duties and responsibilities of those working at operator level in well completions and/or well servicing operations.

  • The aim of the IWCF WIPC level 4 course is to enhance the candidate’s knowledge and understanding of well intervention pressure control and focuses on the duties and responsibilities of those working at supervisor level.

  • The course is delivered through interactive lecturing supported by animations, group discussions and desktop exercises. A simulator exercise is typically included to apply theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom.

  • The two compulsory modules are:

  • Completions equipment

  • Completions operations

  • In addition, candidates must select at least one of the following three optional modules:

  • Wireline operations

  • Coiled tubing operations

  • Snubbing operations

  • Subsea Operations (Newly added - see more context under Additional Information tab)

  • Note: Level 3 and 4 training is presented in a combined class.

Additional information

  • Please note: Level 4 candidates - should a candidate select all the elements Wireline, Coiled Tubing, Snubbing and Subsea Operations - the course will run over 6 days (Teaching x 5 days plus 1 day for assessments). Therefore, course will start on the Friday prior to advertised course date and continue the next week Monday to Friday. This will be confirmed by Well Academy.

  • Candidates have a 6-month grace period to add Subsea Operations to their certificate, from course completion - to attend a 1-day session on Subsea and sit the assessment. Contact Well Academy for more information on this - email admin.au@wellacademy.com.

Audience

  • The IWCF WIPC Level 3 course is aimed at well servicing equipment operators in well completion, wireline, coiled tubing or snubbing operations. Includes (but not limited to):

  • Well-site operations engineer

  • Wireline, E-line, Slick-line operator

  • N2 operator

  • Wellhead / Tree installation engineer

  • Hydraulic work-over (snubbing) operator

  • Coiled tubing operator and equivalent positions in other well-servicing or intervention operations

  • Well testing crew

  • LMRP Engineer

  • The IWCF WIPC Level 4 course is aimed at well servicing equipment supervisors in well completion, wireline, coiled tubing or snubbing operations. Includes (but not limited to):

  • Completion / work-over / intervention supervisor or superintendent

  • Well-site completions / work-over supervisor

  • Supervisors or crew chiefs for special service operations such as wireline, slick-line and coiled tubing operations, that provide specific well control equipment for these activities

  • Office based operational staff (e.g. Senior Completions / Well Interventions Engineer, Operational Completions / Well Intervention Engineer)

  • Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) for offshore units with a primary function for drilling or well intervention

  • Well-site personnel supervising Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) operations or Under-Balance Drilling (UBD) services

  • Hydraulic work-over (snubbing) supervisor

Certification

Candidates must pass each component with a minimum score of 70%.

Level 3 and level 4 certificates are valid for 2 years.
